KENPO 101 –

Contouring Principle - This concept involves using the outline of your or your opponent's body as a homing device or guide to accomplish certain feats. The concept is divided into two basic categories--methods that employ (1) body contact or (2) non-body contact. There are many sub-divisions to this concept.

Dead/Live - A grab is a Dead attack, a push is Semi-Live, a punch is Live.

Okay! Let's get ready for the New Year. Tyler, James, Matthew, Gianah, Joshua, Nick, Davis, Jessica, Naomi, Yevgeny and Katelyn I hope you guys are ready for more fun and plenty of learning.

Everyone in our adult class will need to welcome Kimberly Wise, if you have not. Our adult class continues to be fun and invigorating. As most Kenpo practitioners know, Kenpo is very therapeutic, an amazing stress reducer, and depression remover. So if you do not feel like working out, at least come and be happy.

Please note, if you have paid Cordova Recreation and Park District, bring in your receipt to confirm that they have you on their roster. Lately, they have been hit and miss on recording students who have paid.

SKK REMINDERS

• All students must wear a karate uniform or workout clothes. Male students must wear a groin protector.
• Hygiene is a good thing. Please make sure your karate uniform is clean, finger and toe nails are trimmed, and remove jewelry in class. These reminders are for the safety of your fellow students. Thank you.

KENPO 101 –

Borrowed Force - An opponent's force which is used to defeat him. This can be accomplished by going with the opponent's force or, upon occasion, going against his force. The concept allows your opponent's force to enhance the effectiveness of your action.
Borrowed Reach - You can have Borrowed Reach without Borrowed Force, but not the other way around. Use Borrowed Reach to get Borrowed Force. A kick to the groin, gives you Borrowed Reach (bends attacker over and gets them closer to us) but we don't get Borrowed Force until you follow the kick with a strike.

KENPO 101 –

Lemniscate (Lemniscate of Bernoulli)–

Most of us recognize this symbol as the infinity symbol, a figure 8, and in some cases as the ouroboros. This symbol has been at the forefront of our training lately.

Torque -

"Moment" is the general term for the tendency of one or more applied forces to rotate an object about an axis (the concept which in physics is called torque). Rotational analogues of force, mass, and acceleration are torque, moment of inertia, and angular acceleration, respectively.(Taken from Wikipedia)

Graham Lelliott's Kenpo Camp May 2011 Not only did I receive it, I'm posting for all to see.  This is a terrific camp with some of the warmest people I've ever encountered.  We will absolutely be there if finances allow.  Well worth the money. Hi Amy, Just letting everyone know that we will be doing the camp Wonder Valley again next year in May 2011.  It would be great to see you and if you can pass the word around i would be very grateful. Shuffle –

Shifting the body forward and back to close or increase the distance between you and your opponent.  In Kenpo there are four methods that accomplish this: push drag, drag step, step drag, and pull drag.
